The Creole Zydeco Farmers
"Are these cats really farmers?" "Yes, indeed!" Their name reflects Zydeco roots in southwest Louisiana's farming communities.
Residing in Lafayette, Louisiana, the Creole Zydeco Farmers have traveled extensively throughout the world spreading their brand of Zydeco. The Farmers are one of the few bands playing traditional Zydeco/Blues today. When it is time to party, they deliver the grooves up and down the dance floor.
The band, whose members started as backup players for accordion great, Fernest Arceneaux, features lead vocalist and accordionist, Warren Prejean. Their drummer, Clarence Etienne, affectionately known as "Jockey" was a studio drummer for the legendary Excello Record Label. He has recorded with many greats including Fats Domino, Katie Webster, Lazy Lester and Slim Harpo.
Currently, the Farmers have eight CDs under their belt and a new release is scheduled for early 2010. Performing together for over twenty years, the Farmers have received national and international acclaim. These cats are like fine wine and with age they get better and better. They are a staple at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival so get your tickets today!
